By proceeding with registering and paying for your lessons, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to all terms and conditions outlined below.

Students acknowledge that they have reviewed the contents of the lesson package they are purchasing detailing the length, frequency, and driving time they will receive for each package, and have reviewed the fees for enrollment, tuition, services, equipment and vehicle rentals. Extra charges may be incurred in certain circumstances (additional information below).

Updated Covid-19 Policy

The spread of COVID-19 is on all our minds. Although we are slowly but surely returning to a new normal, we’d like to reassure you that our vehicles are always disinfected between lessons.

In-car lessons: Masks are now optional in vehicles during lessons as per the new Provincial Health order. Please note that our instructors are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Students do not need to be vaccinated but are required to complete a verbal questionnaire given by your instructor before entering the car for every lesson regarding their current health and recent travels.

If a student shows up ill, we reserve the right to cancel the lesson for that day. We thank you for your understanding on this matter.

Booking In-Car Lessons & Pricing

Each lesson is 90 minutes long and consists of a minimum of 75 minutes driving practice time.

The Confident Driver offers lesson packages of four, six, eight, and fourteen lessons. The price reduces with each package that the student wishes to enroll in. Prices include 5% GST. Graduated licensing program packages are GST exempt up to twelve hours of in-car instruction.

Pick-up Point

As people live in different parts of the Cowichan Valley, a central pick-up and drop-off location for lessons is at the big hockey stick in Duncan (Cowichan Community Center: 2687 James Street). This central location helps the student maximize their 90 minute lesson time in the city.
When booking sessions on Schedule2drive there is no place to enter where you would like to be picked up and dropped off, so the default is that your lessons will start and finish at the Cowichan Community Center (big hockey stick). If you would like to be picked up from home, school or another location please call us at 604 786-5591 or email us at office@confidentdriver.net and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Cancellations, no-shows and location changes:

A late change fee of $90 may be charged for changes to your pickup or drop off location made within 24 hours. Likewise, no-shows and cancellations made within 24 hours of your lesson are also subject to the above fee.

Our instructors will wait for 15 minutes if you are late for your appointment, but after 15 minutes if you haven’t already contacted the office, your instructor will leave and a $90 no-show fee will be applied to your account. This must be paid 48 hours before your next lesson.

Road Test Fees and Car Rental

With the approval of the instructor and depending on availability, you may use our driving school car for your road test. Please note that you must have a minimum of four lessons with The Confident Driver School prior to taking our vehicle for your test. There is an additional cost of $325 to rent the car. This includes a 75 minute warm-up with our instructor before the road test and 15 minute registry prior to the test. The cost of total time is two and a half hours for warm-up and test.

For all lessons and road test warmup, the Confident Driver driving car is to be used. Under Division 27 of the Motor Vehicle Act, students that hold a class 7L license in British Columbia cannot use their own car for instruction when taking lessons through a licensed driving school. Enhanced Road Assessment for seniors is exempt.

Passengers in Training Vehicles

One (1) student is permitted in each training vehicle at a time. One (1) parent/co-pilot can ride along for observation purposes, though a maximum of three (3) people can be in a training vehicle at any given time, including the instructor.

Refund Policy

Refunds are available upon request for instruction time not used at the rate that was agreed upon and paid upon sign-up. Please note that the $15 one-time new student sign up fee is non-refundable.

GLP Classroom Sessions

The Confident Driver School is a proud affiliate of Drivewise BC and is pleased to be able to offer the graduated licensing program (GLP) to Cowichan Valley residents.

Classroom theory sessions will be completed via webinar with Drivewise BC, based out of Victoria, BC and all behind the wheel lessons will be instructed by The Confident Driver driving school.

To complete your 18 hours of Classroom Sessions via Zoom you will need two devices connected to the internet, including one with a web cam, as these are fully interactive sessions.
